Depending on the level of amputation and condition of the tissue and skin, a number of early management approaches are available including various types of dressings, shrinkers and pneumatic devices. Upper-extremity amputees can be treated and trained to improve the potential for use of myoelectric devices.
CONSULTATION AND EVALUATION
It is important to understand how the client’s unique and specific needs are matched by the custom design and characteristics of the orthosis or prosthesis, thus avoiding problems of inappropriate biomechanical solutions.
To attain an intimate and comfortable fitting prosthetic socket, diagnostic fittings are routinely used in our practice.
Fabrication of the device takes place in our own laboratory, ensuring the highest standards of construction with strict adherence to the prescription criteria.
Custom-fitted preparatory prostheses are designed for early intervention of all levels of amputations for maximizing the rehabilitation outcomes.
Upper Extremity – A full range of both body powered and myoelectrically powered prostheses are available. Lower Extremity - We are experienced in traditional prosthetic management as well as all of the advanced types of fittings.
FITTING AND DELIVERY
The fitting process may require more than one visit. When the orthosis/prosthesis is delivered, the patient is instructed in the donning, doffing, use and maintenance of the device.
This is an essential component of our professional service. Patients are scheduled for routine visits to the office to ensure proper fit and function of the orthotic/prosthetic appliance.
